Writing for Extraterrestrials

Everyday more people of the Earth discover the social networks of the Internet. The globalization of the mass media has shrunk the planet, and many of the Earth's people are just beginning to awaken to the ideology of interconnectedness. We have always been connected, and because of geographic short sightedness modern humans have not embraced this notion. Only now are people beginning to visualize this truth.
Most people only believe what they can see. Many others only believe the actions of people are able to speak or determine the true nature of that person. The saying is meant to define how personal interactions of people are more important than their words. Yet, now most people are beginning to use videos to express themselves. Good or bad, these videos speak volumes of the nature of people.
Everybody to one extent or another subtly believe that the universe was built around them. They believe that they are somebody of importance. Read any blog, and it is true. Every human wants to be heard. When very small they are socialized to believe that they can make a difference, they can contribute to humankind. Most universities, and institutions of higher learning are founded upon this principle, and find it necessary to perpetuate the fallacy. Yet, only a select few humans, be means of status or wealth fulfill this grandiose socially designed mission. The truth is that humans on a universal scale and independently, by themselves are very insignificant species. There have been several other more important species to live, flourish, and then die on this planet. The Earth is billions of years old, and humans are a mere blip, a passing moment in the time of the Earth.
The illusion of the Internet entertains us, and can enlighten the human race to achieve a more significant role in the universe. The Internet is a tool, to unite the people of the Earth. This union of people or the means to become a single collective of people is the most important thing the Internet can do. Unfortunately much of its use is for frivolous pursuits. Many people put themselves out into cyberspace without regard for who sees, or how it is to be used. Older generations of humans are very afraid of this form of exposure. They guard privacy, and remember times when speaking their thoughts could be used against them.
A very attractive female mayor in some town in Oregon, USA placed pictures of herself on the Internet. Harmless pictures in a bathing suit, a moment used to boost her own self esteem, and I'm positive her significant other approved. Yet, these pictures were used against her in some propaganda by jealous rivals to oust her out of a job. A debate of morality ensued and she lost her position as mayor. Ironically she did good things for the town, and did the job of mayor well.
The problem is emotions. Fear.
The coming changes for human societies are only going to increase. Climate change is real, and will challenge the people of the earth on their very need to survive. Communication needs will increase, and personal privacy is only going to diminish. Yet, until societies evolve some privacy and discretion is necessary for a time. Until the time when there are global moral codes, mutual understandings, and ethical behavior between all races of human, there can not be a complete abandonment of personal privacy. The time will come when this caution will not be necessary, and people will be able to freely express themselves without fear of repercussions.
It has to, because the Earth has lived a very sheltered existence within the universe. One day soon it will no longer be that way. Humans are not alone in the universe. They are also not the most important species. Humans must learn tolerance, or they will be exterminated. Climate change is not only about the human relationship with other humans it is also a reflection of the human relationship with its planet. I have been privileged to live in a generation of humans that were the best educated in the old system. Raised to do math without calculators, write in complete sentences, and challenged to reinvent modern human society. This generation has only just begun, and will not finish until the humans of the Earth are of one people of many colors. We also may live to see the end of times.

Bumbas, ...Happy Trails!
