A letter to the Empire

Dear Walmart,
My name is Ithacan Stardust and you are currently building a super center just down the road from my house in Pennsylvania. I was wondering and maybe observing a few things that you could use in your future Walmart buildings.
You are the industry leader in retail, but you could also become the industry leader in the use of “green” (environmentally friendly) technology. Think of the Public Relations (PR) advertising you as a company could generate off of this sort of campaign!
The super center that you are building is in a perfect location for the use of solar power technology. Besides good PR the use of solar panels could offset some of your operating expanses by saving in electricity costs and in turn “Keep Lower Prices” for the cost of your products. I have read several articles about how you, as a company have streamlined the making and distribution of produced goods, and I was thinking possibly that you, as a company, could now turn some of that thinking into streamline-ing operational expenses.
This particular super center that you are building has moved a lot of earth and some of that material could also be use to insulate almost 1/3 of your exposed walls. It is very much like earth mound sheltering, but by landscaping exposed walls your company could use the insulation qualities to again lower operation expense because the building would use less electricity to heat or cool the building, and then combined with some solar powering, your company again can “Keep its Lower Prices”. Much of these ideas will not interfere with the building being hooked-up to the electrical grid and the state of Pennsylvania also offers tax breaks for all “green” technology used. In some cases if the buildings production of electricity is more than adequate to support its operation then the state has a buy-back system in which they would pay you back for the extra electricity.

Then the benefits for your company to use these suggestions are enormous.

1. Walmart goes “green”. Sets the standard that all others have to live up to. (PR)
2. By using Solar power and earth Walmart saves money in operating expenses
3. The savings go back to consumers, and the company campaign for “Lower Prices”
4. Walmart also gets a tax break at the end of the year, good for Profits
5. Then Walmart makes money from the state by selling the saving back to the electric company

The new store opening excites us in the valley, and as a resident I was just thinking of the possibilities. Wondering why not Walmart, why not start the trends here, why not use technology that is very available and why not save even more for us, and the company. After all we are building more than just a store, it’s a partnership with the community.

Sincerely

Ithacan Stardust

Somehow I'm not surprised. I admire your attempt though.
