In the land of Giants

Before I met Max I traveled with a four legged, and 5 gremlins. It was the summer of 92' and we were leaving the land of clovers. 1000 miles later I was in the land of Giants.
The summer of 92' was a time when Jerry Garcia was still alive, and the band Nirvana was still mostly underground. Thinking back our society then must seem primitive compared with the technology we live with now. Cassette tape players still ruled car stereos, and there was no Internet. We used word processors, no staples stores and everything in Walmart was mostly made in America. The land of clovers looks over the great river unfortunately the forests there have no sound. No animals. The gremlins and I spent four days lying in large fields of clover just sunning ourselves. That's about it,... 4 days.

Driving west on the concrete highway the car skipped constantly. It worked nicely while playing Bob Seager music, but nothing else was in rhythm. The highway was long straight and flat for nearly 900 miles, we came up to it. The land of Giants.
I felt very much like Alice in wonderland as I entered. Towering above road level was large movements of ground. It was as if a giant tiller had churned a 500 yard wide path from the nearest mountain. It went south as far as I could see. We passed quietly through and climbed to a higher elevation, I looked back. It seemed as if it were some dividing wall, a line in the sand, and in looking back it marks an invisible continental shift. At this point in the country the road continued to climb. Long 5 mile graded hills then into the high mountains. The color of the land also changed from amber into dark green, and deep blues. I noticed wild horses, buffalo, and finally after 5 days I heard new whispers in the air. Ah, Good Times!

Bumba Dee Da,... Happy Trails!
